Services offered for Allergy Diagnosis & Treatment

Allergy diagnosis requires specialized allergy testing like Skin prick testing, Specific IgE test, Component Resolved Diagnostics and Spirometry. Once diagnosed the allergy requires adequate pharmacotherapy for control of symptoms.

Skin Prick Testing

The Skin Prick Test is a simple, affordable, and accurate way to detect allergies to substances like pollen, dust, or certain foods. Suitable for all ages, the test is painless and involves no bleeding. During the procedure, tiny amounts of allergens are applied to marked spots on the forearm, and the skin is gently pricked. After 20 minutes, the swelling is measured to indicate a potential allergy. For accurate results, avoid antihistamines for at least a week before the test.

Dr. Mosam Maroo specializes in Skin Prick Testing and ensures accurate diagnosis and personalized care at our clinic.

Immunotherapy

Allergies, like hypertension or diabetes, can be long-term conditions, but Immunotherapy offers a solution to reduce or eliminate allergic reactions, especially for hay fever and asthma. The treatment begins with a detailed history and Skin Prick Testing to identify triggers. If suitable, it is administered either as under-the-skin injections or an oral form, which is safer and more convenient for home use. Over three years, about 80% of patients achieve complete relief, while others see significant improvement. Immunotherapy can also be considered for food allergies on a case-by-case basis.

Spirometry

Spirometry is a simple test that checks how well your lungs are working. It measures how much air you can breathe in and out and how quickly you can do it. This helps the doctor see if there’s a problem with your lungs, such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

If this test is required, the doctor will explain the importance and procedure for performing this test. It requires breathing in and out of the device through your mouth.

It’s a quick, painless, and non-invasive test that gives doctors important information about how your lungs are doing.

Component Resolved Diagnostics

Component Resolved Diagnostics (CRD) is a type of test used to figure out exactly what substance you’re allergic to, especially when someone has a mystery allergy or their symptoms are hard to explain.

When you’re allergic to something, your immune system reacts to specific proteins in that substance. For example, if you’re allergic to pollen, your body is reacting to certain proteins in the pollen. The CRD test takes these proteins and tests them individually.

It is more accurate and helps to identify risks along with proper guidance to treatment.
